SEPOC Project Results: Testing and Final Benefits

Innovative Optimisation Solution for ORIOMA: A Collaborative Success

This project has been developed collaboratively by DRACULA TECNOLOGIES, ORIOMA and e-peas, and monitored by Minalogic.

We are thrilled to announce a major milestone achieved through the collective efforts of our partners, who have worked together to develop an innovative optimisation solution for ORIOMA. This collaboration was crucial in validating key concepts and expediting the development process, focusing on optimising energy from production through storage to consumption. While we acknowledge that this breakthrough will benefit other customers of our suppliers, ORIOMA’s use case remains unique and is protected by patent, ensuring our competitive edge.

Key Results Achieved:

  1. Energy Consumption and Production Balancing: We successfully demonstrated the balancing of energy consumption in the application with the energy produced from the OPV (Organic Photovoltaic) modules.
  2. Stable 3D OPV Architecture: The 3D OPV architecture has shown stable voltage outputs, regardless of the angle of incidence and light intensity, ensuring consistent performance.
  3. Stable Current Outputs: The 3D OPV architecture also demonstrated stable current outputs with variations in light angle incidence, showcasing its robustness under different conditions.

Tangible Benefits Realized:

  • Cost Reduction: We have achieved an immediate 20% reduction in the cost of our energy chain, significantly improving our operational efficiency.
  • Increased Energy Generation: The energy generated at constant lighting levels has increased by 12%, highlighting the effectiveness of our optimisation efforts.

These results are particularly significant for ORIOMA, where every millijoule of energy counts. Although we had to exclude some other potential technological optimisations due to time constraints, we plan to revisit and incorporate these in the next version of our hardware.

Market Impact and Future Prospects:

The innovative OPV panels developed are pivotal for the smart building sector. Each LOBX unit requires one free-form photovoltaic panel per camera, suggesting a market size of approximately 386 million units. The OPV panels’ indoor market is closely linked to the Smart Home and Smart Buildings sectors, enabling IoT companies to develop self-powered devices. As these companies prioritize energy savings, cost efficiency, security, and convenience, our OPV panels align perfectly with the European Smart Home market’s demands for green solutions.

Furthermore, the LAYER® technology embedded within these systems will significantly reduce or eliminate the need for maintenance visits, thereby decreasing the carbon footprint associated with maintenance services.

Commitment to Gender Equality:

Aligned with the European Commission's Gender Equality Strategy for 2020-2025, our consortium remains committed to promoting gender balance. We are dedicated to creating an environment that fosters fulfilling careers for women, ensuring equal opportunities within our industry.

In conclusion, the optimisation solution for ORIOMA stands as a testament to what can be achieved through strategic collaboration. We are excited about the future prospects and the positive impact this innovation will have on our industry and beyond.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of technological advancements and sustainability.
