Silicon Europe names Frank Bösenberg as Chairman for 2025
Ghent, December 5, 2024 – The Silicon Europe Alliance, a leading coalition of Europe’s semiconductor and electronics clusters, announces that Frank Bösenberg, Managing Director of Silicon Saxony, will take over the chairmanship of the alliance for 2025. Bösenberg succeeds Erasmia Dupenloup of French Minalogic, who has held the position since December 2023.
In 2025, Silicon Europe aims to reinforce its pivotal role in advancing Europe’s semiconductor industry by engaging with the newly appointed European Commission and collaborating closely with ESRA (European Semiconductor Regions Alliance). These efforts will align with the EU Digital Agenda and the EU Chips Act, ensuring Europe’s semiconductor sector continues to drive innovation, sustainability, and global competitiveness.
As part of its forward-looking agenda, the alliance will update its strategic roadmap to fully reflect the evolving geopolitical framework and anticipated challenges. This initiative aims to ensure that Silicon Europe and its member clusters are well-positioned to adapt to global trends, address critical supply chain dependencies, and contribute to Europe’s technological sovereignty and resilience. Supporting Frank Bösenberg in his role, Erasmia Dupenloup, Ola Svedin of OpenTech (Sweden), and Robert Gfrerer of Silicon Alps (Austria) will serve as co-chairs.
Frank Bösenberg explains:
" Clusters like the ones organised within Silicon Europe are vital for strengthening Europe’s position as a global semiconductor player. By uniting the expertise of regional ecosystems and in particular SMEs across the continent, we can amplify our collective impact, foster innovation, and ensure Europe’s competitiveness on the global stage. In 2025, we aim to further deepen collaboration with European institutions and stakeholders while expanding our network to welcome new clusters. Together, we can meet the ambitious goals of the EU Chips Act and the Digital Agenda."
As commonly agreed, Silicon Europe is set to play an even more significant role in fostering cooperation among Europe’s semiconductor clusters, addressing supply chain challenges, and contributing to a sustainable, innovative, and resilient digital future.
