Fair Smart City Summit and Expo 2018 opened in Taipei

As early as March 27, the Smart City Summit and Expo 2018 trade fair started at the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), where visitors from all over the world get a glimpse of the latest advances in sectors such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT). The fifth event, the largest trade show of its kind for IoT and Smart Cities, attracted over 30,000 visitors from more than 50 countries and territories. In addition, more than 120 mayors and city representatives were present, and 210 organizations - an unprecedented number - presented state-of-the-art technologies at 1050 booths. At the opening ceremony, President Tsai said Taiwan is a leader in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and is preparing to jump on the AIoT platoon. The government is making every effort to enter this emerging field of merging AI and IoT, she added. According to Tsai Ing-wen, such measures include the construction of smart social housing and the establishment of test sites for autonomous vehicles, as well as the Asian Silicon Valley project.
