A strong collaboration

Silicon Europe unites the strongest European micro- and nanoelectronics clusters to form a European alliance with access to the most advanced technologies and expertise. This “cluster of clusters” stands for an entire new level of transnational collaboration and a combined innovative strength that will significantly contribute to the future competitiveness of the European economy.

A strong brand

Within Silicon Europe, 12 world-class clusters from 10 leading micro- and nanoelectronics regions are collaborating to create an open European collaborative platform to strengthen the leading role of the European semiconductor industry in the global economy and value chain.

2,000 cluster partners from industry and science

Now the Silicon Europe Alliance unites about 2,000 cluster partners from industry and science, among them innovative SMEs, leading-edge research institutions and global players such as Philips, NXP Semiconductors, Globalfoundries, Intel, Infineon, STMicroelectronics, Schneider Electric and Thales. Silicon Europe can claim to be the biggest technology cluster in the world.

Under the European project “Silicon Europe” (project number 320004) a step-by-step strategy for the time till 2018 has been developed, which is aiming at enhancing the competitiveness of their respective cluster members through inter-cluster cooperation. The implementation and further development of this Joint Action Plan is a fundamental baseline for the Silicon Europe Alliance.

Since its creation in 2012, Silicon Europe shapes a cutting–edge network of the leading micro- and nanoelectronics actors of Europe covering the entire value chain, from design and materials all the way to applications and smart systems.
